Mind: Studying God's Living Word
"you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul,
MIND, and strength"
The third aspect of Narkis Street Congregation is our studying
God's Living Word. We believe that's God's written word to
us is something not to be taken for granted, but should be daily
studied with a tender and obedient heart.
Our Identity for Studying God's Living Word
We learn to follow Jesus by means of God’s
written Word, the Bible. Our congregation is devoted to illuminating
the teachings of Jesus in the Gospels. We believe Jesus’ central
message—the Kingdom of God—is enhanced by the study
of the ancient languages, literature, and land of Jesus’ time.
Jesus was a Jew who lived in the land then called Judea-Provincia.
To substitute his ethnic and religious heritage with any other
theological bias is to dilute his words and ultimately detract
from the clarity of his message.
Faith-based scholarship is a priority at Narkis
Street Congregation. We employ a faith-inducing critical method
to the Bible because we find no conflict between living in the
Spirit and serious academic study of the Bible, in fact we are
commanded to engage the text lest we stand unequipped to do the
work of the Kingdom (2 Tim. 3:14-17). Our learning must provoke
us to follow Jesus in doing righteous deeds.

Our Vision for Studying God's Living Word
Narkis Street Congregation seeks to grow in God’s wisdom
and truth (2 Tim. 2:15). We believe that one of our purposes
is to remind other Christians throughout the world of the spiritual
value of understanding Jesus’ teaching in its first-century
Jewish context.
• We have a Spirit-filled academic study of the Scriptures
which seeks to return the nations to the foundation of Jesus’ teaching,
the Torah. For out of Zion shall go forth the law (torah), and
the word of the Lord from Jerusalem (Isa 2:2-3).
• Our 9:30am Shabbat Bible Study emphasizes the teachings
of Jesus and how he interpreted, handled, and illuminated the
Hebrew Scriptures.
• We support youth, students, and teachers coming to study
and serve here, believing that living in the land increases one’s
biblical awareness and social responsibility. Such study and
service in the land is highly beneficial, especially for those
ministering in the Church.
• We produce material detailing Jesus and the Bible in
their Hebraic setting.
• We plan and promote teaching seminars and conferences
as well as youth study-tours for the local and international
Church body, enabling believers throughout the world to grow
in their understanding and practice of Jesus’ Kingdom message.
We have hosted the Robert L. Lindsey Memorial Lectures since
2002.
